Anjali Borkhataria is a Tanzanian fashion entrepreneur and the founder of Ekantik, an African heritage fashion brand rooted in sustainability, storytelling and conscious craftsmanship. Through her work, she is redefining how African fashion is viewed globally by blending East African heritage with contemporary luxury design.
In 2024, Anjali became the first Tanzanian designer to host a pop-up at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, one of the world’s most iconic luxury department stores, marking a historic milestone for Tanzania’s creative industry and placing Tanzanian fashion on one of the world’s biggest retail stages.
Under her creative direction, Ekantik has showcased collections across prestigious international platforms including Paris, London and South Africa Fashion Weeks, while also collaborating with global brands such as Reebok South Africa. Her designs have drawn recognition from the President of Tanzania and have been worn by renowned artists and cultural figures across Africa, further cementing her role as one of the continent’s rising creative voices.
